eSupport is a utility I have devloped to extend the Scopus system so you can easily connect to customers systems
and share additional information about a customer setup and detailed info about each device/server on their network.
This utility is still under development so there are still some features that have not been implemented yet such as
document links and yes you may even get an error once in a while as I have not had time to do a complete QA testing.
If you do experience problems such as the auto logins on http do not work, please check the Fequently Asked Questions list
below. If you are still having problems or would like a featuer added to eSupport let me know. esmutz@epicor.com
Download E-Support (Hint: Save to your Desktop, then run eSupport from there.)
eSupport is a .Net application so it requires .Net version 2.0 installed on your
system to run, most systems have .Net installed so this is not typically a big issue.
Simply right click on the eSupport application above
and select "Save Target As…". This will then prompt you for a location to save the application to,
I recommend saving it to your desktop, but you can select any location so long as it is somewhere on a
LOCAL drive. Once the application is on your desktop right click on it, select Properties and look for a Button that says Unblock.
If this button is displayed click it, if you do not see this button don't worry, just click on OK.
You are now ready to run the application, simply click on it and log in using your current Scopus login/password.
If you are getting this message when you try to run eSupport, most likely you are running the
application from the Web or a network drive. Try saving eSupport.exe on your local drive and run it from there.
RDP Auto Login
The Auto Login feature was initially designed for the RDP sessions and works very well for Windows 2003
servers. I have found that it does not always work for Windows 2K servers, I believe it is related to the version
of RDP protocol the system supports. So hopefully it will work for you, but if it does not then simply tell the customer
to please upgrade their server to W2K3 so you do not have to manually type in the password. I'm sure they
will understand.
HTTP/HTTPS Auto Login
Since the RDP auto login worked so well I thought why not try to do the same for http(s). At first I was having
pretty good success, but then IE started changing things and now when I pull up a web page sometimes I get
messages about the site being suspicious or phishing or it might contain secured and non secured items. If the
web site is in my trusted web sites it may behave differently depending upon the settings. So the problem with
trying to do an auto login is the prompts consistently change depending on where I run from, what site
I am connecting to and if I am using IE or Firefox. So for now basically the auto logins don't work real
well for http(s). If they are working for you then great, if not then just don't use them.
Telnet Auto Login
Well since I did not have much luck with autuo logins on http(s) connections I figured why not move on and try
it for telnet. This seems to work a bit better, but it too is dependent upon timing and how quickly you connect
to the remote system. Similar to http(s) auto logins, if they work then great, if not let me know and I might
work a bit more on trying to get this to work better for you.
If you paste rich text into a comments field, the existing format will be displayed (IE: bold, underline and such), however the
format is lost when the data is saved or refreshed. This is because we are only saving the text portion of the
data and the attributes are not being saved. Perhaps this will be expanded on later, but for now this is just
how it works.
If you enter in a URL the system detects as a link it will become a hyperlink that you can click on. IE: http://www.smutz.us
You can enter in web sites or urls to documents or folders that contain additional customer informations. If your
link contains spaces in it, surround it with <> to get the complete link.
IE: <//p21bfs/Departments/some file with spaces.doc>
